2007 Sundance Film Festival - Day 1
The 2007 Sundance Film Festival gets under way with Thursday night's opening festivities, which include a lavish party at the Legacy Lodge. The meat of the festival begins with Friday's opening gala event and screenings, but not before the opening film of the festival - "Chicago 10." Directed by Brett Morgen, the film is a documentary experiment that chronicles the notorious protests that took place at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Using an innovative mix of animation and jaw-dropping archival footage, "Chicago 10" is a fascinating look at the loss of civil liberties endured by those put on trial for their anti-government stance. The film has been chosen as the festival opener and will play twice on Thursday night.
