50 Cent was like a kid in a Billboard candy shop. Mr. Cent took home (actually, he will have to have them delivered, he attended the show via cell phone from Paris) six awards including Best Album of the Year and Best Artist of the Year. Mariah Carey was close behind. She captured five, which at one point threatened to overwhelm her and Slash had to step in to help her hold them. Green Day refused to say good bye to the year that's treated them so well. The still-got-it-if-you-want-it punk band opened the show with its song "Holiday" and didn't look back. The veteran rockers matched 50 Cent quarter for quarter, walking away with six awards of their own. Gwen Stefani arrived in grand fashion, picking up a couple wards herself and performing her song "Luxurious" with Slim Thug. And Tom Petty and Kanye West were honored for their accomplishments in music. Petty insisted that he could still kick a**, and West admitted that his success has taught him humility by declaring that, yes, he is still the best.
