After two films in 2006 that chronicled the tragedy of September 11, 2001 ("World Trade Center" and "United 93"), the events of that terrifying day are evoked in a different way in "Reign Over Me," a powerful drama about a man who lost his family in the attacks. Adam Sandler stars as Charlie Fineman, a disturbed widower struggling with grief over his deceased family. Lonely and drifting aimlessly, he bumps into his college roommate Alan (Don Cheadle), and the two begin to rekindle their friendship, bringing new hope into Charlie's life. But when Alan's wife (Jada Pinkett Smith) begins to regret allowing the childlike Charlie into their life, old wounds threaten the relationship. Liv Tyler and Donald Sutherland provide ample support in this touching film from "The Upside of Anger" director Mike Binder.
