Blood Diamond

Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Connelly, and Djimon Hounsou star in "Blood Diamond", a violent look at the recent civil war in Sierra Leone and how the international diamond trade was wrapped up in the conflict. DiCaprio gives an incredible performance as a South African diamond smuggler, as does the always powerful Hounsou as a man on a desperate search for his kidnapped son. From "Last Samurai" director Ed Zwick, "Blood Diamond" is an important film that brings up disturbing issues of everyday capitalist complicity in modern conflict. DiCaprio has been nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance.
